PRIEST-IN-CHARGE: The Rev. Jen Fulton
Mother Jen was born and raised in Wisconsin. She attended college at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnosota, where she majored in English and minored in Philosophy. She graduated summa cum laude with honors in 1993. She met her husband, Brad, while a student, and the two married in 1994. The couple moved to Illinois, and Mother Jen received a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 1997. She then taught English at Queen of Peace High School in Burbank, Illinois for several years before leaving teaching to stay home with her daughters Alex(andra) and Leta.
The Fulton family moved to Mishawaka in 2007 and joined St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Mishawaka. Mother Jen accepted a position as Student Coordinator at the Nanovic Institute for European Studies at the University of Notre Dame. After discerning a call to ordained ministry, she attended Nashotah House Theological Seminary’s hybrid education program and graduated cum laude with a Master of Arts degree in Ministry. She was ordained to the priesthood shortly after her graduation, in September 2014. St. John of the Cross is her first parish. Mother Jen is honored to serve God and God’s people in this capacity.
As the governing body of the parish, the Vestry handles the parish’s business and serves as a council of advice for the priest. Members of the Vestry volunteer their time to represent the parish as a whole and are elected by the parish at the annual meeting. One of the primary responsibilities of the Vestry is to oversee the parish’s financial health. In partnership with the priest and Wardens, it develops and approves the annual parish budget.
Current Vestry: Bruce Krueger (Senior Warden), Bob Evans (Junior Warden), Terry Scott (Treasurer), Georgia King-Evans, Jon Smoker, and Steve Streeter
